This extension to a 1940s home in Seattle's Windermere neighborhood, initially crafted by one of NBBJ's founding principals, William J. Bain Sr., contains a new primary bedroom suite. The single-story annex establishes a fresh, secluded courtyard area adjacent to the existing residence, while maintaining the architectural style of the original structure. Featuring a bathroom, bedroom, and generous closet space, the extension seamlessly connects to private perspectives of the nearby garden and provides glimpses of Lake Washington. The interior design showcases curved elements that elegantly acknowledge the formal attributes of the original dwelling.
